ABOUT MR. DICKENS

Building Bright Futures

JOSHUA DICKENS is the Director of Band and Chorus programs at Trinity High School in Trinity, North Carolina and has been a director of Band in North Carolina for 6 years. The Band program at Trinity High consists of 2 Concert Bands, Jazz Band and Marching Band, and a variety of other small ensembles. The Trinity HIgh School Band program has grown in quantity and quality since Mr. Dickens arrival. The Trinity bands place numerous students in county and region honor bands annually. 


Mr. Dickens attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree. While attending WCU he was a consistent member of the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band. In 2011 Mr. Dickens performed with the world famous drum corps Carolina Crown and became a recipient of the Jim Ott Award for Excellence in Brass. Mr. Dickens also performed at the Rose Bowl Parade in 2011, Bands of America Grand Nationals Championships in both 2008 and 2012. 


Prior to his coming to Trinity High School, Mr. Dickens was the band director at W. A. Patillo Middle School in Tarboro, NC and Northwest Middle School in Pfafftown, NC. While at Northwest he was responsible for the development of the first Superior rated band at that school in approximately 17 years. 


Mr. Dickens is a current member of the Central District Bandmasters Association(CDBA). He is enthusiastic about making a positive impact in every student he teaches, growing student enrollment in Band, performing at a Superior level. As an educator Mr. Dickens draws on his experiences as an educator and performer to teach music that is both fun and educational for high school musicians. 


Mr. Dickens currently resides in McLeansville, NC with his beautiful wife Zaneta.
